Product Developer
Home-based with occasional travel to London | £40,000-£50,000 | Full time, permanent
We are working with a leading, Ofqual-accredited apprenticeship assessment organisation to recruit an outstanding Product Developer. In response to recent apprenticeship reforms and shifting assessment requirements, our client is redeveloping its assessment products, and is looking for someone to help create the documentation, support materials, and assessments behind its existing suite, and new products as the landscape evolves.
About the role
You'll work in a small team, very closely with the Product Manager, using technology to design and deliver products expertly and efficiently. The role calls for someone who can strike the balance between dynamic, creative thinking and the compliance mindset that keeps assessments low risk in the eyes of regulators.
Stakeholder engagement is central to how our client operates, so you may occasionally support sessions or attend meetings with providers, employers, and apprentices who access their assessments. As part of combined Product and Marketing activity, you may also be asked to support marketing materials from time to time, typically by giving input on social media content or reviewing assets produced by the team.
What you'll do
- Product Development: Lead the development of all materials associated with the apprenticeship assessments, including the assessments themselves, support materials, and other documentation, ensuring systems and platforms reflect the latest developments
- Product Testing: Lead the testing of materials and documentation to ensure a successful transition from design to delivery, keeping platforms current and delivering an excellent user experience
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support engagement with providers, employers, and apprentices by joining sessions or meetings when needed, delivering product updates, or contributing your product insight to wider team discussions
- Communication: Use exceptional written communication and second-to-none attention to detail to produce 'right first time' products that pass quality assurance
- Assessment Expertise: Apply assessment principles and standard setting (such as the Angoff method) to create secure and robust assessments
- Technology: Enthusiastically harness technology, including GenAI, to improve the design and delivery of products, and advocate for tech platforms that improve the work
- Marketing Support: Contribute to marketing when needed by providing product insight, reviewing content, or supporting social media materials that showcase products and updates
What you'll bring (must have)
- Experience developing or delivering qualifications and/or assessments, ideally apprenticeship assessments
- Exceptional project and programme management skills; a formal qualification would be ideal
- A deep understanding of the further education sector, work-based learning in particular
- Outstanding attention to detail, proofreading, and quality assurance skills
- The ability to engage effectively with stakeholders of all types, including training providers, employers, apprentices, and regulatory bodies
- Adaptability in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Nice to have
- Experience working within the digital sector
- An education or training background, giving you the ability to empathise with customers
- Experience using generative AI tools (such as Copilot or Claude) and Canva to support content creation
- An understanding of Ofqual regulatory frameworks
